A
brief description of the Association tournaments at Western Turnpike appears
below. Unless otherwise noted in the
tournament description, you can create your own team/foursome or the Event committee
can assist you. Tournament prizes
include gross & net winners and “closest to the flag stick” on the par
3’s. There are also optional gross/net
skins on individual & team tournaments, and 50/50 raffle tickets are sold
at every tournament. For two-day events,
the foursomes are re-paired for the second round based on the first round gross
or net score.
Description of Events
“3-2-1” - 4 person team event
Format: Individual stroke play with team scoring; one “best”
score is used on par 5’s, two scores used on par 4’s and three scores used on
par 3’s.
“6-6-6” -
Format: Individual stroke play. The Committee will set a
course of 6 par 3’s, 6 par 4’s and 6 par 5’s.
Bridgemen - 4
person team event
Format: 1 net “best
ball” of 4 used on holes 1-6, 2 net “best balls” of 4 used on holes 7-12, 3 net
“best balls” of 4 used on holes 13-17 () and all 4 net
scores will
be used on the 18th hole.
Club Championships – Men’s & Women’s
(Major) - Two day event
Format: Stroke play in “even” years and Match play in “odd”
years.
Flights are seeded according to handicap and formed by the
committee. If the previous year flight
winner is in the flight, they are made the number 1 seed, regardless of
handicap.
Fall Handicap –
Women’s & Men’s (Major)
Format: Individual stroke play.
4 Person Stableford

Format: Individual stroke play, combining to make the team
score, with scores based on points as follows:
Net Double
Bogie or > = -1pts, Net Bogie =
0 pts, Net par = 1 pt, Net Birdie = 2 pts, Net Eagle = 3 pts, Net double Eagle
= 4 pts. The highest team score wins.
Skins are determined by highest team point total on a hole.
Individual Gross/Net – Women’s & Men’s
Format: Individual stroke play.
Member/Guest - Women’s
Format: to be announced.
Members invite guest(s) to play. Cost per team includes: golf, buffet
lunch
and prizes.
Member/Member - Men’s
& Women’s (Major) –
Two day, 2 person
team event
Format: Sat. – Better
Gross and Net. Sun. – Total of both net balls. (Note: Format subject to change.) Sunday’s
pairings are based upon Saturday’s gross scores.
Men’s “One
Person Scramble” –
Format – Individual stroke play from the Forward (Front) tees, but each
player has two attempts at each shot, picking the best outcome.
Metropolitan
- 4 person team event
Format: Team scramble. Everyone hits a tee
shot, choose the preferred drive, then other three players hit next shot.
Follow this format, with the person whose shot is selected sitting out the next
shot, until the ball is holed.
Mixed Scramble – 4 person team event
Format:
All
players hit a tee shot, then all players hit from the spot of the selected tee
shot until the ball is holed out.
Teams are formed by the committee, based on handicaps
(A,B,C,D player).
Par 3
Tournament –
Format: Individual stroke play. The Committee will set a course
consisting of 18 Par 3 holes.
Presidents' Cup - Men’s
& Women’s (Major)
– Two
day event
Format: Individual stroke play. Second round pairings are
based upon the first round gross scores.
Red/White/Blue - 4 person team event
Format: Each team plays 6 holes from each of the Red, White
& Blue flags (set by the Committee).
The team score is 3 best balls of 4 net.
Women get 100% handicap, Men get 80%. Come dressed in your red, white & blue.
Ryder Cup Event - Women’s – Two
day event
Format: 1st day – alternate shot &
4 Ball (Better
Ball of Partners); 2nd day - two separate 9-hole match play contests. (Note: Format subject to change.)
Co-Captains pick teams and pairings.

Senior & Super
Senior Club Championship – Men’s & Women’s (Major) - Two day event
Format: Flighted individual stroke play. Sunday pairings based upon Saturday gross scores.
You must be 50 years or older to qualify and flights are
based on age; players over the age of 65 automatically qualify for the
Super Senior Championship. Prizes awarded to gross
& net winners of each flight.
Overall low gross score is the Senior Champion. Snacks and beverages
are provided on Saturday. A sit down dinner is served following play on
Sunday.
Spring Handicap - Women’s & Men’s (Major)
Format: Individual stroke play.
Foursomes are re-paired on Sunday based on Saturday net
scores.
2 Best Balls of 4 – 4 person team event
Format: Each
member of the foursome plays their own ball. Team selects the two best net
& gross scores per hole.
2 Person Best Ball – 2 person team event
Format:
Stroke
play. The team picks best ball gross
& net score for each hole.
2 Person Scramble –
2 person team event
Format: A two person scramble, with any combination of
team members.
The field will be flighted and handicapped within flights. Gross and
net prizes will be awarded within
flights.
